ESCCOM Chief Executive Ascends to CRASA Chairmanship
Eswatini’s communications landscape is poised for heightened influence in the Southern Africa region following the recent appointment of the ESCCOM Chief Executive as the new Chairperson of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA). This significant development occurred during the 13th Annual General Meeting of CRASA, hosted in Eswatini, where ESCCOM assumed the chairmanship role from the ARPTC of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Annual General Meeting was not only a forum for leadership transition but also an occasion for forging stronger inter-regulatory relationships. In a progressive move, ESCCOM and the Botswana Communications Regulator (BOCRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This MOU is set to enhance bilateral cooperation, facilitating a seamless exchange of information and regulatory best practices between the two entities.

This collaboration is expected to bring forth innovative regulatory approaches and foster a harmonized regulatory environment that will benefit the telecommunications sector in both nations. The partnership underscores a collective effort to address the evolving challenges in the communications industry and to promote development within the Southern African region.
ESCCOM’s new role as CRASA Chairperson is anticipated to steer pivotal discussions and actions that will shape the future of communications regulation in Southern Africa.
