At least 3 people were confirmed to have been shot and killed by members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service this week alone.
The 3 people were killed on 2 separate incidents and in both instances, police claimed to have been trying to contain suspects who were trying to run away from being arrested.
The fist incident took place at Dwaleni on the 6th October where 2 people who were suspected of stealing copper wire belonging to the Eswatini Post and Telecommunication (EPTC) company were gunned down and certified death upon arrival in hospital.
The incident was confirmed by Chief Police Information and communication Phindile Vilakati who said the suspect were shot while trying to flee from the police.
She reportedly said the suspect were shot after all means had been made to stop them.
Meanwhile, on another incident, on the 7th of October, Nhlanhla Kunene (52) from Mpaka was also gunned down by members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service allegedly for breaking the curfew.
A family member disclosed to the Times of Eswatini that they were told Kunene was shot when he was trying to run away from the scene.
The incident was also confirmed by the police Chief Information and communication Phindile Vilakati who said the REPS had embarked on an intensive investigation to ascertain how the police worked on that particular night.
