The Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) has called upon all students in the country to flood the Manzini Magistrate court on Monday where the Secretary-General of the union Bafanabakhe Sacolo is expected to appear on charges of malicious damage of property.
Sacolo was apprehended on Friday following the drama that ensued at Thabani Nkomonye’s memorial service that was rudely interrupted by the Police service by firing teargas to disperse thousands of mourners. Some mourners including Thabani Nkomonye’s mother had to be rushed to hospital after inhaling the tear gas smoke.
According to a statement that was released by the SNUS Mbabane Campus, Sacolo is currently held at the Manzini Police station and is set to appear at the Manzini Magistrate court at 9 am on Monday.
“As a Union would to thank (and) urge all comrades for their undying support, further urge ALL students to flood the Manzini magistrate court with their red regalia as he will be attending at 09>00 am Monday,” read the statement which is making rounds on Social Media.
