Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku has encouraged church congregates to continue paying tithes even during the extended partial lockdown.

The Acting Prime Minister was speaking during a press briefing that was held at Cabinet Offices on Wednesday where he announced an extension of the partial lockdown measures by four weeks with effect from Thursday 21 January 2021.

Masuku said there is no doubt that the country needs spiritual upliftment during this difficult period.  

He noted the church leader’s support for the country’s COVID-19 measures that the government had put forth and further encouraged churches with the capacity to hold virtual services to continue doing so.

However, Masuku announced that only a pastor and a videographer will be allowed inside the church while others worship and pray in their various homes.

“We encourage Bazalwane to continue supporting the church by paying tithes and offerings, supporting pastors and churches since the church extend support to the needy as well”, said Masuku.

He said the tithes and offerings can be paid electronically as the country had developed that technology as seen in the distribution of elderly grants.
