Disciplinary action will be taken against the Build It Matsapha Manager who allegedly assaulted a street vendor verbally and also kicked her bucket containing home-backed products.
This is according to a statement that was released by the Build It Matsapha Management where they also revealed that the vendor will be compensated for her losses suffered.
The Company expressed its shock and disappointment by the incident confirmed that a disciplinary step will be taken after an investigation into the incident.
“We, therefore, confirm that disciplinary steps will be taken following an investigation into the incident. The Vendor will also be fully compensated for any losses suffered and additional support and counseling will be provided to ensure she can get back to business as soon as possible,” read the statement.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that General Manager Rowland Duff was yesterday arrested and granted an E4 000 bail after being charged with malicious damage to property.
His arrest follows a public outrage particularly on Social Media where Emaswati were calling for him to issue a public apology, compensate the vendor and also pay a fine to the Vendor’s Association.
The Economic Freedom Fighters of Eswatini also issued a statement which was published by this publication inviting the public to a protest that will take [place outside the Build It Matsapha store.
