Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku has confirmed that the remains of Tanzanian women Gladness Edje has been found.

Gladness Edje went disappeared at the National Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital at Moneni, Manzini in August 2020 and resulted in her family launching a campaign pleading for the public’s assistance in locating the remains. The Royal Eswatini Police Service also dangled a E50 000 carrot to anyone who may assist in finding the missing corpse.

On Tuesday, the Acting Prime Minister confirmed that the remains have been found and exhumed in Northern Hhohho following a mix-up with that of a female police officer.

“In the aftermath of the report about the missing body, intensive investigations were launched by the Police and the Ministry of Health to unravel the whole mystery. The investigations continued until the early part of March when information of a possible mix-up came through,” narrated the Acting Prime Minister.

Masuku also expressed that the recovery of the remains has bought an immense relief to the Eswatini Government pointing out that the matter was greatly confounding.
