His Majesty King Mswati III will deliver this year’s speech from the Throne on the 19th of February, Parliament Speaker Petros Mavimbela announced on Friday during a press briefing that was held at the Parliament.
The speech from the throne is an annual speech that is delivered by His Majesty at the beginning of each year to mark the official opening of parliament.
Speaking on Friday, Mavimbela who was accompanied by Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini said because of COVID-19, only 45 Members of Parliament will physically attend these proceedings while others follow it virtually.
Mavimbela said everyone who will physically attend this session will be tested for COVID-19 before entering the parliament. He said the singing of the National Anthem, Guard of Honor will not happen because of the COVID-19.
