Guinea in the West part of Africa will now have to fight two deadly viruses following the death of at least 3 people who died in recent weeks from the Ebola virus and four who have been confirmed to be infected.

The cases that were announced on Sunday by the authorities of that country are the first since it was declared Ebola-free in 2015.

Guinea has declared an Ebola Epidemic following the resurgence of the cases and has since begun with contact-tracing and isolating those affected.

Meanwhile, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Africa Dr. Matshidiso Moeti said the resurgence of Ebola in Guinea was a huge concern.

She said the Health Team in Guinea is on the move to quickly trace the path of the virus and curb further infections.

“WHO is supporting the authorities to set up testing, contact-tracing and to bring the overall response to full speed,” said the Regional Director.
