MBABANE– The Eswatini Data Protection Authority has taken a significant step in upholding data privacy and security standards by issuing certificates to registered Data Processors. This milestone follows a directive by the Authority urging all data controllers and processors to register with the authority between March 1st and September 31st, 2024, in compliance with the Eswatini Data Protection Act of 2022.

In a statement, the Chief Executive of ESCCOM highlighted the importance of the registration process, emphasizing the need for compliance with data protection regulations. He outlined the specific details required during the registration process and reiterated the Authority’s commitment to providing guidance and support to registered entities. He further encouraged those who have not yet registered to expedite the process and collaborate closely with the Authority to ensure full compliance.

Speaking on behalf of the registered Data Processors, Sifiso Dlamini from ESRIC expressed gratitude for the certification and affirmed their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of data integrity. He emphasized their commitment to upholding data protection principles and pledged continued cooperation with the Authority to safeguard sensitive information.
