The Kingdom of Eswatini has received another batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine this time from the COVAX facility.

The batch from the CAVAX Facility consists of 12 000 doses and follows another 20 000 doses that were received by the country the past Thursday courtesy of the Government of India.

This means that the Kingdom of Eswatini now has 32 000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine which is to be administered to the country’s health workers beginning from this coming week.

Receiving the batch from the COVAX facility, the country’s Health Minister Lizzie Nkosi was reported to have said that the vaccine will protect against severe illness and by so doing it will reduce the number of deaths from COVID-19.

“We receive these vaccines with gratitude and we look forward to receiving more vaccines from the COVAX facility. What is really important about this vaccine is that it will protect against severe illness and by so doing it will reduce the numbers of deaths from COVI-19.” said the Health Minister.
