The events if the global week of action have drawn the attention of the region and the world to the conditions of the people of Swaziland and mobilizing world opined to demand action that will enable Swazi people to fully exercise their inalienable rights to choose a government of their choice.
This is according to the Swazi Lives Matter Global Solidarity Movement which released a statement that was signed by Qhawekazi Khumalo on Friday.
In this statement, Khumalo sent the organisation’s appreciation to international parties that participated on the activities of the week.
The Global Week of Action was held locally and outside the country from the 1st to 9th September 2021 and was aimed at drawing the world’s attention to what is currently going on in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Some of the activities locally included the delivery of petitions to all Tinkhundla Centers of the country and petition delivery at the United Nations embassy.
Internationally, the activities included border blockade by COSATU and her affiliates, #53YearsASlave lecture among other activities.
“on behalf of the Swazi Lives Matter Global Solidarity Movement (SLMGSM) we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all solidarity activists from all over the world who participated in a global week of solidarity for democracy in Swaziland and marking the 53 years of slavery for the people of our great nation,” read Khumalo’s statement.
She added that her organization believes that it is necessary to consolidate solidarity with all those in support of, and in solidarity with all Swazi people fighting for an end to the authoritarian rule, government accountability, and the absolute monarchy’s untranslated autocracy.
