Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini has called upon Chiefs and School Committees to assist schools to keep order and calm in order to allow children the opportunity to learn.
His Excellency has been speaking during a press briefing that was held at the Cabinet Offices on Thursday where he addressed the ongoing sporadic spate of schools in the country.
Yesterday alone, students from at least ten schools boycotted classes and took to the street calling for the release of incarcerated Members of parliament Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
To that effect, Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini warned emaSwati not to stand aside and watch their children being used to subconsciously push the agendas of other people.
“In the past few days, we have seen unrest in a few schools, particularly in the Southern region. Children have left classes and are roaming the streets subconsciously pushing the agendas of other people. Needless to say, these are faceless people. Valuable time is being lost at a time where examinations are getting closer.”
The Prime Minister reminded parents and the nation at large that valuable time has also been lost through COVID-19. He said examination dates were shifted to mitigate the lost time.
“The children in these schools are missing an opportunity they will never recover. We appeal to Chiefs and School Committees to assist schools to keep order and calm in order to allow children the opportunity to learn. Appropriate measures will be taken to discipline those involved,” said the Prime Minister
