The Eswatini government through the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has handed over a 2 roomS house to a family of 7 situated at Jubukweni in the Hhohho region.
The Simelane family which is headed by a child is one of the families that were heavily affected by the Tropocal Cyclone that hit the country early this year.
The NDMA received on their Facebook page that the Simelane family was forced by the heavy rains to ditch their stick and mud and went to seek for shelter else where.
According to Mlondi (22) who is the eldest, their movement to another stick-and-mud shelter was short lived as it also showed signs of being unsafe during the rains. The family was fortunate to get the attention of Bucopho from Ejubukweni Royal Kraal(Umphakatsi) during an assessment following the cyclone. The family’s plight was then conveyed to NDMA. Mlondi expressed sheer gratefulness to the agency and umphakatsi.
NDMA, with funding from government and other organizations, has targeted to build up to 200 flats for families whose houses were destroyed mainly by the cyclone.
