The measures that were put in place by the Eswatini government to curb the spread of COVID-19 will remain in place for 2 more week’s however, the measures will not affect the Speech From The Throne Scheduled for tomorrow.

This was announced by the Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku in a press briefing that was held at the Cabinet Offices on Thursday.

“It is for this reason that His Majesty’s Government, exercising Regulation 52 of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Regulations 2020, has taken the decision to further extend the restrictions by another two weeks, with effect from midnight today,” said the Acting Prime Minister.

However, the Acting Prime Minister announced that the extended regulations will not affect the opening of parliament as it has received the necessary legal authority to allow controlled gathering for the Speech from the Throne.

On the other hand, the extension means that alcohol sale and gatherings remain prohibited in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Masuku also reminded Emaswati that the brewing and selling Marula is also prohibited during the extension of the partial lockdown. However,, He said collection of the marula fruit will only be allowed for production of none alcohol products and propagarion of the marula plant.
