Acting Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has launched the Kingdom of Eswatini’s Foster Care Programme. The programme will formalise foster care in the Kingdom. The Acting DPM further launched www.bantfwabetfu.org, a website outlining the programme.

Acting DPM: “Government has recognised the need to strengthen its Foster Care Programme through the Department of Social Welfare, whereby families from around the country who will have a desire to foster children into their families can be given the opportunity to do so on an official basis.”

Acting DPM: “The country has recognised the need to strengthen its overall alternative care settings for supporting vulnerable children. These alternative care settings are places of safety where children who are in need of care, support & are without parental care are placed through the Department of Social Welfare.”

Acting DPM: “The Office intends to undertake a nationwide campaign to drive social mobilisation on the Foster Care Programme. The main objectives of this drive are to create awareness on the different components of foster care including its defination, characteristics, benefits to the child & foster family.”
