The entertainment industry in the Kingdom of Eswatini has suffered a huge blow as the Eswatini Government maintained the ban on arts and Entertainment gatherings.

In a press statement that was held at the cabinet offices on Thursday, Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku announced a cautious re-opening of some sectors of the economy of Eswatini including schools, religious and community gatherings as well as the resumption of low contact Sporting Codes leaving out the entertainment industry.

The Acting Prime Minister’s statement did not sit well among those making a living through the Arts and Entertainment industry with some questioning if the Arts industry have a designated Minister.

The Minister Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs in the Kingdom of Eswatini is Harris Madze Bulunga.

Meanwhile, The Spotlight Judge and Platnum Concept Director Khulekani Mamba popularly known as Karly B took to Social Media to express his disappointment towards how the government is handling the Arts and Entertainment activities in the country.

“If a community gathering is allowed, and so is a church service and a schools, how is a small scale entertainment event any different? asked Mamba in one of his post.

He said the continued ban on the Arts and Entertainment industry for more than a year is evident enough that the Eswatini Government has no regard of the industry.

Mamba also expressed that there are events such as Comedy Shows, Arts Exhibitions and intimate live shows that could be of minimum risk.

Mamba was not the only one to express his disappointment as Kenneth Tsabedze who manages Afro Pop Star Popzin also called for Siphofaneni Member of Parliament Mduduzi Simelane to intervene on this member by lobbying it in parliament.
