Liphimbo Labomake will lead a protest march to deliver a petition to Deupty Prime Minister’s office and other regional Administrative Offices calling for the removal of state officers from the country’s streets.
Liphimbo Labomake is a women’s collation whose mission is to is create a forum where women meet and engage on collective activism on issues affecting women and girls in the country.
The organisation revealed that the will petition the various offices calling for respect o freedom of expression and political reforms, declaration of GBV as a national emergency as well as a relief fund for people that were injured and families of those who died during the recent unrests.
The regional marches will kick start under the Hhohho region where the petition is expected to be delivered at the Deputy Prime Minister’s offices. This exercise will take place this coming Friday (21 October 2021).
Meanwhile, the other regions will pay a Courtesy call to their regional Administrative Offices starting with the Lubombo and Shiselweni regions on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
Manzini region will conclude this marches on a high note as a petition will be delivered to the Manzini regional Administrator’s office on 26th October 2021.
The recently launched marches come at a time when the Kingdom of Eswatini is rocked by schools protests in losts parts of the country. Law enforcement agencies have been deployed to quel the situation and has led to one student being shot in her leg.
The students are calling for the release of arrested Members of Parliament Mthandeni Dube and Bacede Mabuza among other demands.
The country recently experienced an uprising never seen before which saw a destruction of property worth close to E1 billion and the death of more than 80 people.
