Lomahasha residents have vouched to fill the streets of Lomahasha to the Lomahasha Police Post where they will deliver a petition to the National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, residents leader Siboniso Mkhabela said the Lomahasha residents will engage on a peaceful petition delivery exercise on Saturday and Sunday after laying to rest two Lomahasha residents that were shot by a drunk and off a duty police officer.
Mkhabela said among other demands, the Lomahasha residents will be calling for the National Commissioner to withdraw “This is war statement” pointing out that they believe Emaswati are dying because war was declared against innocent citizens. Mkhabela added that the residents will be also calling for the arrest of all Police Officers who allegedly shot Emaswati in the last few weeks when the country was engulfed by civil unrest.
Lastly, Makhabela said as residents, they need to know how a drunk off-duty office gained access to a working pistol which he later used to shoot the two unarmed civilians. Narrating on the logistics of the peaceful march, Mkhabela called for the law enforcement agencies to refrain from provoking protesters, saying this may result in the march turning into something else.
