Top Eswatini award-winning Maskandi artist Majalibhunu will battle with his South African counterpart for the Best Maskandi gong under the banner of the South African Development Music and Achievement (SADMA) Awards.

Under the Best Maskandi category, the 2018 and 2019 MTN SWAMA Award Best Traditional/Maskandi winner will be battling with artists like Madlanduna son of the late Bhekumuzi Luthuli and Isilingo se Ndlamlenze to mention just a few.

Reached for comment, Mamba confirmed the nomination pointing out that the international recognition shows that the level of Maskandi music in Eswatini has grown.  He said one of his ambitions is to challenge for the Best Maskandi gong under the banner of the South African Traditional Music Awards (SAFTAs).

“In 2016, I was nominated on the SAFTA Awards but did not win and therefore, I want to challenge for that award again,” said Majalibunu.
