Mangololo Movement Eswatini will soon deliver petitions to all diplomatic missions acredited to the Kingdom of Eswatini.
This was confirmed by Gcina Dlamini, the Mangololo Movement Spokesperson who said the content of the petitions remain confidential until they have been delivered to the rightful people or organisations.
“Mangololo is paying a Courtesy call on all diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom of Eswatini. We shall reveal to the public once we have been through with the courtesy call. The content, thereof, remains confidential for now until we have had our courtesy call on the diplomatic missions,” said Dlamini.
He said the Mangololo Movement respect the long existing relationship that the country has with the diplomatic missions hence they are very careful, caution and sensitive on solidifying these relationships.
Mangololo is a movement that was formed at the height of political unrest calling for a multi-party democracy in the Kingdom of Eswatini. The movement was formed with the intention of opposing the idea of ideology.
In September, Mangololo Movement delivered a petition to the United Nation’s Resident Coordinator Ms Natalie Ndongo Seh, which was widely viewed as a counter petition to the one that had been delivered by political parties organised under the Political Party Assembly.
The Political Parties among other things were calling on the United Nation’s intervention and to assist on investigation in to the alleged killing of more that 80 Emaswati during the June uprising. They also urged the UN to assist the country in transitioning into a multi-party democracy system.
Meanwhile, Mangololo Movement on their petition argued that the Kingdom of Eswatini is democratic and there are people who are happy with the country’s leadership and system of governance.
The movement argued that there was a “democratic vote” in parliament that led to the banning of political parties by King Sobhuza II in 1972.
“Furthermore, in 2005, we had our very own Constitution which was done freely by Emaswati after requesting such from His Majesty. I will encourage you to familiarize with these documents as such will help you understand some aspect of our lives,”read the Mangololo petition in part.
The petition also advices the UN to pay attention to section 2 of the constitution which speaks about the constitution being the supreme law of the land and section 4 which talks about The King and Ingwenyama.
