The Mavuso Sports Centre that was recently banned from hosting international games has been cleared to only host the AFCON Qualifiers match between Eswatini and Guinea Bissau scheduled for 26^th March 2021.

 “Eswatini Football Association (EFA) would like to inform her stakeholders that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the Emergency Committee on March 8, 2021, decided to lift the ban on hosting of the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers match between Eswatini and Guinea Bissau,” read a press statement that was released by the football body on Friday.

“This is, however an exclusive relaxation, restricted to only the match in question, scheduled for Friday, March 26, 2021 at 3 pm (Eswatini time),” clarifies the statement.

This mean that after the aforementioned game, the Mavuso Sport Centre will remain banned from hosting international games until it conforms with the CAF Stadiums Requirements.

On March 1, 2021, the Eswatini Football Association announced that the facility has been banned by CAF from hosting international matches citing poor pitch conditions, low quality standard dressing rooms and other general renovations works.

However, the country’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo and the Minister of Sports Madze Bulunga assured the nation that they will work swifly in addressing the issues surrounding the stadium.
