Minister of Labor and Social Security Makhosi Vilakati has been transferred to South African Health Facility, Eswatini Government announced through a press statement that was released by the Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku.

Masuku said Vilakati was transferred to a South African Health Facility today so that he can get specialized proceedures that are not available in the country.

“His Majesty’s Government wished to notify the Nation that the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Honourable Makhosi Vilakati, has today been transferred from the Lubombo Referral Hospital to a South African Health facility for specialized treatment procedure not available in the country following infection with COVID-19,” reads the Acting Prime Minister’s statement.

According to data that was released by Our World In Data, the Kingdom of Eswatini has the highest COVID-19 death rate in Africa and sits at number fourteen in the world. 458 people have died of COVID-19 in the country, a figure that includes two Cabinet Officers.
