MTN Eswatini in partnership with Destiny Music Group has on Friday officially launched the second edition of the MTN iPraise which will take place on the 4th July 2021.
The MTN iPraise is Eswatini’s annual highly acclaimed bright gospel music festival which was first launched in 2019 and was one of the events that did not take place in 2020 because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, MTN Eswatini who is the title sponsor, and Destiny Music Group have announced the return of the annual festival within the new normal.
Speaking during the launch, Destiny Group Director Tom Lin revealed that this year’s festival will be a digital event due to the COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
“Due to the lockdown regulations, we have seen it fitting to host a digital event. The event will be streamed on Y’ello Hub, which is MTN’s platform and Social Media on Sunday, 4th July 2021 at 7 pm,” announced the Destiny Music Group Director.
He revealed that the vision of this concert is to develop and support music and Art in the Christian sector. He said as an organization, they want to grow the concert into one of the leading Gospel events in the Southern part of Africa.
He also revealed that Gospel fanatic will be given a chance to select the line-up of artist they would love to see performing on this year’s concert through SMS voting.
Lin said they believe that the event will assist by resuscitating the music industry and empower local artists.
“There are unfortunately many artists who have not had any income for over a year during lockdown. We would love to reach out and bring much needed relief through this initiative,” expressed the Director.
He added those artists who qualify for the top 10 will have a share from the SMS voting revenue. Meanwhile, those who will qualify to perform on the concert will be remunerated.
The Director also revealed that there is something in store for local Gospel artists who have registered and uploaded their music on Music Time as the artist with most downloaded music on the platform will be showered with cash prizes.
