MTN Eswatini Foundation has today donated E100 000 towards the National Malaria Programme, Eswatini Government revealed through its Social Media Pages on Thursday.
This publication has gathered that the contribution was accompanied by various in-kind contributions that the National MalariaProgramme has received since the implementation of the 2021-2021 Malaria elimination strategy.
Other contributions received this month include E200 000 from Eswatini Sugar Association as well as internet services worth E54 000 from Jenny, both channelled towards the End Malaria Fund (EMF).
Speaking during the E100 000 handover, the country’s Minister of Health Senate Lizzie Nkosi revealed that the End Malaria Fund has played a critical role in resource mobilisation to mitigate gaps witnessed by the National Malaria Programme and in responding to these urgent needs timely. She said this would have not been possible without financial or in-kind contributions that have been afforded to the fund.
“As such, we continue to value and appreciate all of our donors, both local and international, stakeholders as well as the citizens who have helped advance the elimination agenda thus far. We continue to implore every citizen to join us in the last mile towards malaria elimination,” said the Minister
The End Malaria Fund Chairperson Thandile Nxumalo thanked all stakeholders that have been working with the fund in eradicating malaria. The Chairperson said it is very important that the nation be aware of malaria since it’s another Malaria season.
Meanwhile, MTN Foundation Chairperson Busisiwe Simelane reiterated MTN Foundation’s commitment to contributing to the health of Eswatini.
“One of our main pillars is to contribute to the health of Eswatini. This contribution is our way to confirm that MTN is on board with the Ministry in ending malaria,” outlined Simelane.
