Former University of Eswatini Student Patrice Motsepe has been confirmed as the new President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Motsepe who made history by being the first South African CAF President was confirmed on Friday during the 43rd General Assembly in Morrocco where he stood unopposed.
The mining magnate will serve a four-year term which will end in the next elective congress in 2025.
Motsepe is expected to step down as Mamelodi Sundowns President for the duration of his CAF Presidency as per his announcement a few months ago.
He had previously announced that his oldest son TlhopieMotsepe will take over in his absence with Motsepe’s wife and other two sons taking advisory roles.
