Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament Marwick Khumalo today moved an urgent motion under standing order number 32 requesting that the Cabinet to urgently review its of extending the partial lockdown within the next 48 hours.

According to a leaked Order paper currently making rounds on Social Media, Khumalo who was seconded by Manzini Region Female Member of parliament Thandi Nxumalo expressed that the extended Partial lockdown is subjecting the already fragile economy into economic depression from which it will take ages to come out.

“Therefore, we the dully elected representatives of the people, call upon the government to reverse the extended partial lockdown within the next forty eight (48) hours in order to allow the country to breath”, read the order paper.

The MPs added that the extension of the lockdown is creating a crisis in the education system of the country at a time when parents and guardians had already paid for their children.  

On Thursday, The Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku announced that the governemnt took a decision to extend the partial lockdown by 2 more week. Masuku described the decision as a tough but neccessary decision.

However the MPs said the Acting Prime Minister’s statement has no basis as majority of of Emaswati are in full compliance and taking all the necessary precautions on the virus.
