Eswatini Government has extended the sale of alcohol in the country to Saturdays, Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku announced during a press briefing that was held on Thursday.
Masuku maintained that the sale of alcohol is still strictly for home use only but will now be sold from Monday to Saturday.
From Monday to Fridays, the sale of alcohol will be permitted between 11 am and 7 pm and 9 am and 2 pm on Saturdays.
Masuku also announced a cautious relaxation of the COVID-19 measures on the art industry, sports and religious gatherings, with effect from midnight today.
Going forward, the maximum number of people that will be permitted at an outdoor entertainment event is 500 while only 300 will be permitted for indoor events and also depending on the size of the venue.
On the Sports industry, Masuku announced a further relaxation on the operations of more sports activities name; Basketball, Netball, Ruby Sevens, Volleyball and Women’s football. He also gave the afromentioned sporting codes a green light to resume hosting training sessions, practice matches and official competitions.
Meanwhile, the public was also given permission to host memorial services but under strict adherence to all COVID-19 health protocols for a period not exceeding two and half hours.
