The Eswatini Government and the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) have reiterated that there is still no confirmed date for the re-opening of schools.

This is regardless of a leaked document circulating online insinuating that schools will open on the 16^th February 2021.

The teacher’s Association had initial released a statement in which they announced that the Government together with other education stakeholders were still in the consultation phase regarding the resumption of schools during the CODIV-19 pandemic.

These were the same sentiments that were shared by the government as announced by the Acting Prime Minister in his latest press briefing.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Training Lady Howard Mabuza also weighed in on the matter by dismissing the leaked document. She said should there be any move within the government regarding this matter, the Acting Prime Minister will announce accordingly.

She told one of the country’s dailies that she is not aware of any date for the re-opening of schools and the Ministry of Education is yet to begin the process on the preparations of reopening schools.
