The Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SDNU) has called upon the Eswatini Government to lead by example and refrain from exploiting teachers and workers at large by hiring them on a contract basis while serving on permanent post.
The nurses union was speaking ahead of the much-anticipated march that will be led by the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) scheduled for tomorrow where the teacher’s association is expected to petition the office of the Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku on the hiring of teachers using contracts.
SDNU issued a statement of support a day before the march pointing out that the hiring of teachers on a contract basis has a direct diverse effect on the country’s education standards.
“The damage caused by the government actions and inactions have irreparable long-time effects. This is becoming a tendency by the government to hire employees on contracts yet their post are permanent,” expressed the union.
They also called upon the government to lead by example and stop exploiting the country’s workers. SDNU said hiring employees through contracts also kills the employee’s morale, and adds frustrations to workers.
