Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been sensational so far at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and it now been claimed that the referee in Portugal’s win on Wednesday asked if he can have the Real Madrid talisman’s match shirt.

The 33-year-old scored his fourth goal of the tournament in Portugal’s Group B win over Morocco, latching on to a superb cross in the box four minutes into the match to score with his head.

Nordin Amrabat, who was one of the African side’s better performers in the game, did not seem too pleased with referee Mark Geiger after he made a few dubious calls, and even claimed that the FIFA official asked Portugal defender Pepe if he can have Ronaldo’s shirt.

“He was very impressed with Cristiano Ronaldo, I heard him ask Pepe at half-time if he could have Ronaldo’s shirt,” he said, according to Marca.

“I don’t know what he normally does, but what are we talking about here? This is the World Cup, this isn’t a circus.”

Morocco goalkeeper Munir was also unhappy with the referee, whom he feels should not have awarded Ronaldo’s goal.

“I am convinced that if things happened in the other area, another decision would have been made,” he admitted.

“Especially with the goal, we think that Ronaldo fouls (Khalid) Boutaib who was closest to him, and this cost us.

“I haven’t seen it but Boutaib said that he pushed him so hard that he was unable to clear the ball.”
