The Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland has vouched to fight for free tertiary education in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
#FeesMustFall was a student-led protest movement that began in mid-October 2015 in South Africa. The goals of the movement were to stop increases in student fees as well as to increase government funding of universities.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Political Party invited tertiary students to join the newly formed Student Command in their respective institutions through EFF agents deployed on the institutions.
Explaining the role of the Student Command, the EFFSWA said the body will focus mainly on growing the political party in tertiary schools, and champion a struggle for free education.
The Party clarified that the Student Command is not an Anti-Unionism organization but will work with students’ unions to advance the struggles of students.
Furthermore, it will contest for Students Representative Committee (SRC) Elections in order to ensure free education and that all qualifying students are admitted in Tertiary schools.
