In a startling turn of events, Bhekumuzi Mbingo (39), the prime suspect wanted in connection with the brutal murder of Mpilwenhle Mavimbela (16), has been found dead. His decomposed body was discovered at a deserted homestead in Engcengcemeni, located under the Malindza constituency. The area is just a few kilometers away from Thulwane, where the body of his alleged victim was tragically found.
According to reports, Mbingo, suspected of ingesting a poisonous substance, was discovered on March 20. His body had already undergone significant decomposition, indicating that for the past three weeks, instead of being on the run, he had been lying unidentified inside a morgue.
Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, confirmed the discovery of a body but refrained from confirming the identity of the deceased or the cause of death until a post-mortem examination has been conducted.
Sibusiso Dlamini, Mpilwenhle’s grandfather, expressed his relief upon hearing the news. He stated that he had received information regarding the discovery of a body suspected to be Mbingo’s, which was promptly reported to the police. Dlamini expressed confidence that the body belongs to the alleged perpetrator of his granddaughter’s heinous murder. He further remarked that the women and girls in the area can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Mbingo was perceived as a menace and a threat to society.
