The Eswatini Water Service Corporation (EWSC) has resorted to rationing water for Mbabane residents supplied by Upper Fonteyn and Mahwalala Reservoir.
EWSC released a Public Notice and Water Rationing Schedule on Saturday where it was also explained that the water rationing or interruption was initiated by the flooding of the EWSC’s abstraction sites by cyclone Eloise which resulted in extensive damage to the raw water infrastructure.
“Consequently, a rationing programme will be implemented to promote equitable access to water services,” read the public notice.
The utility company also revealed that affected areas are those supplied by the Upper Fonteyn and Mahwalala Reservoir.
Meanwhile, the company advised affected residents that station tanks and mobile tankers will be provided during the period when the supply is not available.
