MBABANE – The Minister of Finance, Neal Rijkenberg, and the Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Dr. Thambo Gina, along with Dr. Phil Mnisi, Governor of the Central Bank of Eswatini, are leading a high-level delegation from Eswatini in a preparatory meeting ahead of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) Spring meetings in Washington DC, USA.
The Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the IMF and the World Bank Group serve as a crucial platform for global leaders to convene and discuss pressing issues of economic development, poverty eradication, and aid effectiveness. Central bankers, finance ministers, development ministers, and private sector executives from around the world gather to deliberate on the world economic outlook and chart a course for sustainable growth and prosperity.
The Eswatini delegation’s participation in these meetings underscores the country’s commitment to engaging with the international community and addressing shared challenges on the global stage. As a small, landlocked economy, Eswatini recognizes the importance of collaborating with international partners to navigate complex economic dynamics and promote inclusive development.
During the preparatory meeting, Minister Rijkenberg, Minister Gina, and Governor Mnisi are expected to strategize and coordinate Eswatini’s positions on key agenda items to be discussed at the IMF and World Bank Spring meetings. These discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including macroeconomic stability, financial sector resilience, investment promotion, and sustainable development goals.
