A reprinted E50 banknote that embraces the country’s name change will be released into circulation from April 2021.
This was announced by the Central Bank of Eswatini in a statement that was published on the organization’s social media pages.
“We are delighted to present our reprint E50 banknote which will be released into circulation in April 2021,” read the Central Bank of Eswatini statement.
Three main features changed in the reprinted note as outlined on the statement are as follows:
- The country name change from Swaziland to Eswatini and Central Bank of Swaziland to Central Bank of Eswatini.
- The Minister of Finance’s signature
- His Majesty, King Mswati III’s portrait with full Ligcebesha.
The Central Bank also clarified that the old and reprinted E50 notes are legal tenders and will co-circulate.
