In a poignant conclusion to a five-day Chaplaincy Orientation Workshop at the Matsapha Police Academy, Deputy National Commissioner Mrs. Wendy Hleta delivered an inspiring message, urging attendees to embody courage and fearlessness, drawing parallels to the traits of a revered figure.
Representing the Acting National Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hleta emphasized the importance of walking in a straight line, boldness, and fearlessness, likening these attributes to those exhibited by a significant historical figure, often revered for his unwavering determination.
The workshop, which brought together eighteen officers from various law enforcement agencies including the Royal Eswatini Police Service, His Majesty’s Correctional Services, and the Eswatini National Fire & Emergency Services, was organized by the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC). Facilitated by Dr. Chipeta Mabvuto from Malawi, the event aimed to provide comprehensive training and orientation for chaplains within the law enforcement community.

Throughout the five-day program, participants engaged in rigorous training sessions, workshops, and discussions, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide spiritual and emotional support to their colleagues in times of need. Dr. Mabvuto’s expertise and guidance were instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of the role and responsibilities of chaplains within the law enforcement context.
As the workshop drew to a close, Mrs. Hleta commended the dedication and commitment of all participants, acknowledging the invaluable contribution of chaplains in maintaining the well-being and morale of law enforcement personnel. She expressed gratitude to Dr. Mabvuto and the ICPC for their partnership in organizing the workshop, underscoring the importance of continuous training and development in enhancing the effectiveness of chaplaincy services within the law enforcement community.
The closing ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the critical role played by chaplains in providing holistic support to law enforcement officers, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being amidst the challenges and demands of their profession. As participants departed with renewed inspiration and determination, they carried with them the invaluable lessons and insights gained during the workshop, poised to make a positive impact within their respective agencies and communities.
