As part of commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day, Standard Bank Eswatini officially handed over a fully refurbished Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) female ward.

The handover took place on Monday where the Bank also announced that it contributed E1.5 million towards the rehabilitation of the ward.

“As part of our International Women’s Day commemoration, yesterday we officially handed over a fully refurbished ward. The Bank remains committed to gender equality, challenging negative gender stereotypes in the workplace and celebrating women’s achievement,” announced Standard Bank Eswatini through its social Media Page.

Speaking during the official handover of the ward, Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku noted the bank’s contribution towards the development of the economic and social well-being of Emaswati.

He said the bank achieved this by partnering with both the private and public sectors.

Masuku also applauded the bank for its supports towards the SME sector which he said has been greatly affected by the COVID-19.

He said the bank also extended it support to the Health sector where pumped in a sum of 1.5 million towards the rehabilitation of the RFM female ward.

Masuku revealed that the bank’s commitment to rehabilitating the ward came after reports by the country’s dailies to the effect that the female ward was forced to close due to its dilapidated state back 2019.

Masuku also noted that the bank continues to find new ways of making sure that the dreams of Emaswati are possible through its contribution to the country’s health fraternity.

Meanwhile, the Standard Bank Chief Executive (CE) Mvuselelo Fakudze retaliated that the Bank decided to partner with the Resource Mobilization in mobilizing funds for rehabilitating the ward.  

The CE thanked Micro Project for co-coordinating the work with the contractors that started and finished the work.

Fakudze said, as a Bank, they believe that the ward will play a huge role in treating chronic issues that women face on a day-to-day basis.
