King Mswati III Empowers 12 Cooperatives with E15Million Investment

Madlangempisi, Eswatini – In a significant move aimed at bolstering local economic development, His Majesty King Mswati III has officially handed over projects valued at E15Million to 12 cooperatives operating under the Madlangempisi Inkhundla. Funded through the Regional Development Fund (RDF), the initiative is set to bring transformational change to the region by equipping the cooperatives with vital assets and resources.

A Diverse Portfolio of Projects

The projects encompass a range of essential tools and services, including trucks, tractors, and various farming implements, as well as the establishment of a feedlot and provision of animal feed. These investments are designed to enhance agricultural productivity and logistical efficiency, directly benefiting approximately 1,600 emaSwati. The support is expected to facilitate improved operational capacities for the cooperatives, enabling them to better serve their communities and drive economic growth.

Commendation for Excellence

During the handover ceremony, His Majesty lauded the cooperatives for their exemplary professionalism and robust accounting practices. He highlighted their ability to generate significant dividends, with one cooperative reportedly earning around E44Million annually—a testament to their efficiency and sound management. This acknowledgment underscores the government’s commitment to rewarding and encouraging best practices in local enterprise management.

A Vision for the Future

In addition to the financial and material support, His Majesty King Mswati III announced an ambitious long-term initiative aimed at improving living standards in the community. As part of this vision, he committed to building 10 decent homes for the elderly of Madlangempisi. This project is one of several planned measures that will eventually be rolled out countrywide, reflecting the King’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and social welfare across Eswatini.

A Broader Impact

The investments and new projects are expected to have a ripple effect throughout the community, contributing to job creation, increased income, and enhanced overall quality of life. By strengthening the cooperatives, the government is not only investing in the present but also laying the foundation for a resilient and self-sustaining future. As local cooperatives continue to flourish under such supportive measures, communities like Madlangempisi are poised to become models of successful rural development.

This landmark initiative by His Majesty King Mswati III reaffirms the government’s commitment to economic empowerment and social upliftment, ensuring that the benefits of development are shared widely among the emaSwati population.
