Mbabane, Eswatini – The Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Princess Sikhanyiso Dlamini, has officially appointed a new Board of Directors for the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), ushering in a new era of leadership for the country’s communications and technology regulator.

The appointment ceremony, held in Mbabane, marks a significant milestone in the ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen governance, transparency, and innovation within the ICT sector. The new board is expected to steer ESCCOM in advancing Eswatini’s digital transformation agenda, promoting fair competition, and ensuring consumer protection across telecommunications, broadcasting, and postal services.

A Renewed Vision for the Digital Era

In her remarks, Princess Sikhanyiso emphasized the strategic importance of ESCCOM’s role in enabling Eswatini’s transition toward a fully digital economy.

“The commission must continue to uphold the highest standards of service delivery and regulatory excellence. Our goal is to empower emaSwati through technology, innovation, and connectivity that leaves no one behind,” she said.

The new board’s appointment comes at a time when Eswatini is expanding broadband infrastructure and introducing reforms to improve access and affordability in the digital communications landscape.

Strategic Priorities Ahead

Key priorities for the new board include:

  • Strengthening digital inclusion and rural connectivity.
  • Supporting innovation within the ICT and fintech ecosystem.
  • Regulating emerging sectors such as data protection, cybersecurity, and digital broadcasting.
