In a bid to drive competitiveness and excellence within the construction industry, the Construction Industry Council of Eswatini (CIC) has unveiled its innovative ‘5V Model’ strategy. Presented by CEO Machawe Mnisi during the recent Industry Stakeholder’s Forum, this strategic roadmap aims to revolutionize the sector and achieve ambitious goals over the next decade.
The 5V Model adopts a comprehensive approach, leveraging five key elements to guide the industry’s transformation. Each ‘V’ represents a critical aspect of strategic execution, ensuring efficient implementation and adherence to quality standards. The model’s overarching vision (V1) sets the stage for industry-wide transformation, while subsequent elements outline specific goals and timelines for achievement.
Building upon the momentum of the 5V Model, Mnisi elaborated on the strategic framework, highlighting initiatives categorized under three strategic focus areas (SFAs): Relationship Transformation, Efficiency Optimization, and Effectiveness and Impact. These SFAs underscore the CIC’s commitment to fostering strong relationships, maximizing operational efficiency, and driving tangible impact within the industry.
Under the visionary leadership of the CIC, the 5V Model sets ambitious long-term goals (V2) to be achieved by 2033, including increased local participation in construction projects and enhanced project owner satisfaction. Medium-term goals (V3), to be attained by 2030, serve as stepping stones toward the long-term vision, with a focus on further strengthening local industry participation and client satisfaction.
In the short term, the CIC aims to achieve concrete milestones (V4) by 2027, including a significant increase in construction work carried out by Eswatini-registered companies and improved project owner satisfaction. These short-term goals serve as immediate priorities for action, driving tangible progress and laying the foundation for long-term success.
The strategic focus areas outlined within the 5V Model underscore the CIC’s commitment to fostering collaborative relationships, maximizing operational efficiency, and driving meaningful impact within the construction industry. By implementing leaner processes, leveraging technology, and optimizing resource allocation, the CIC aims to position itself as a high-performing organization capable of delivering on its mandate in a cost-effective manner.
As the construction industry evolves, the CIC remains steadfast in its dedication to driving positive change and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Through the strategic implementation of the 5V Model, the CIC aims to propel the industry forward, ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for all stakeholders involved.
