Deputy Prime Minister’s Office Extends Support to Philani Maswati Foundation

MBABANE, Eswatini – The Philani Maswati Foundation, an establishment with a vision of Her Excellency Indlovukazi, will receive a new dairy cow courtesy of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, as announced by DPM Thulisile Dladla. This generous gesture comes after the Foundation’s sole dairy cow, a vital source of fresh milk for residents, fell ill and died.

During her visit to the Philani Maswati Centre, the DPM revealed her office’s commitment to support the Foundation further by providing a full-time social worker and a variety of trees for planting, including indigenous and fruit-bearing species. The visit also saw the DPM distribute warm blankets to the elderly, a donation from Her Excellency Indlovukazi.

In addition to the government’s support, the DPM personally pledged to donate a television screen for the centre, enhancing the quality of life for the elderly by allowing them to stay informed and enjoy recreational viewing. She also commended Infra Cast for their contribution of gates and requested that they extend their generosity to include pavements for the facility.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s visit was a response to an invitation from the Philani Maswati Foundation Board, following a courtesy call made to her office. The visit included a tour of a dam constructed by the Ministry of Agriculture Eswatini, aimed at providing irrigation solutions to the region, and a newly erected two-story building by the Micro Projects Programme, part of a significant E5 million investment in the infrastructure of three structures at the centre.

Lutfo Dlamini, Chairperson of Philani Maswati, reminded those present of Indlovukazi’s dream to establish centres across all four regions of Eswatini, each complete with a school and clinic. The centre currently stands on approximately 40 acres at Dvokolwako, allocated by the late Chief Malamulela. He appealed to Emaswati to volunteer or provide financial support to realize this vision. However, he voiced concerns over local residents damaging the fence, allowing livestock to graze and damage the Foundation’s crops.

The support from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office underscores the government’s role in fostering community development projects that align with the nation’s values of caring for its vulnerable populations.
