In a resounding statement on the anniversary of the April 12 Declaration, the Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland (EFFS) have voiced their unwavering commitment to challenging the historical injustices perpetuated by the declaration and advocating for economic emancipation in the country.
The April 12 Declaration of 1973, often viewed as a milestone in Swaziland’s history, has drawn sharp criticism from the EFFS. They argue that the declaration, which centralized power within the monarchy and banned political parties, paved the way for systemic poverty and disenfranchisement among the Swazi people.
According to the EFFS, the declaration served the interests of the royalty at the expense of the nation’s well-being, creating a system where power and wealth were concentrated in the hands of a select few. They assert that the manipulation of the black society by King Sobhuza, portraying political parties as terrorists, has perpetuated misconceptions and hindered progress towards genuine democratic governance.
In response to these challenges, the EFFS pledges to continue their fight for economic justice and empowerment for all Swazis. They emphasize their commitment to educating the populace about the true intentions behind the April 12 Declaration and dismantling the structures of oppression that have long plagued the country.
The EFFS envisions a future where the people of Swaziland collectively benefit from the nation’s resources and enjoy equal opportunities for prosperity. They vow to stand with the Swazi people in their quest for liberation and assert that pressure will be exerted on the monarchy until power is relinquished to the people.
As they advocate for economic emancipation, the EFFS remains steadfast in their belief that the land and resources of Swaziland should be owned and utilized for the collective benefit of all citizens. They express confidence that, with concerted effort and determination, economic freedom can be achieved in their lifetime.
The EFFS concludes their statement with a rallying call for unity and solidarity among the people of Swaziland, emphasizing that only through collective action can true liberation be realized.
